Where to stay in Taboga Island
Small hotels, hostels, and family-run villas — the island's lodging scene, a short ferry crossing from the city.
If you remember the old Hotel Taboga, it no longer exists: it was torn down years ago, and all that's left in its place is the road and a few food stalls in town. Over time, small hotels, hostels, and houses that owners rent out directly to visitors have popped up to fill that gap — there are no big hotel chains on the island, just family-run businesses.
Something similar happened with the old Hotel Chu: the wooden building everyone knew was torn down and rebuilt in concrete, but those rooms were never reopened to guests. Worth keeping in mind as you plan your trip — Taboga's lodging scene is small, it changes over time, and it's best to confirm directly with each place before booking.
