Dry season (December to April)
As in the rest of Panama's Pacific coast, December through April brings the dry season: sunnier days, less rain, and calmer water for the ferry crossing. It's the most predictable stretch for a beach day, though also the busiest one on weekends.
Rainy season (May to November)
May through November is the rainy season: showers tend to cluster in the afternoon and pass quickly, with sunny mornings most days. The island looks greener during these months, and beaches are usually quieter on weekdays.
What to pack by season
- Year-round: sunscreen, a hat, and water — the bay sun is strong even under clouds.
- Dry season: sunglasses and something for your head on the trail, where shade is scarce.
- Rainy season: a light rain jacket or packable poncho, in case the afternoon shower catches you outside.
- Sandals or shoes you don't mind getting wet, any time of year.
