The Man at the Pier

Around Holy Week, the island becomes wrapped in a certain mysticism because of what these dates mean to its residents; family gatherings are very common, and many scary stories are told around this time of year.

Mrs. Nilka Judith Juárez recounted, in earlier comments, the story of a man people used to see walking along the pier during those dates, who would vanish without a trace whenever someone went to look for him. The man at the pier is one of the island’s many legends.

Holy Week was quite a solemn time, and for a child back then it must have been quite unsettling.
