Taboga and World Youth Day
February 6, 2019
This past January, World Youth Day (JMJ) was held, and Taboga became a magnet for visitors of every nationality; hundreds of tourists packed the beaches with their flags and the joy of visiting a country like Panama.
The event lasted a week, and the #TabogaPanama team helped visitors by translating from English and Portuguese; we ran into even more languages, but we always managed to work things out. It was a really pleasant experience to see so many people getting to know the island of flowers.
The pilgrims visited the church and walked through our narrow streets; some took the chance to preach in the shade of the small houses, others swam at the beaches, and others tried the island’s food.

It was a very pleasant experience; the people of Taboga, as always, rose to the occasion and welcomed tourists with our usual smile and warmth.
We hope this experience repeats itself in the future, and that it marks the start of more cruise ship visits; we’ve already shown that we can take good care of tourists.
