El Jobo: Taboga's Secluded Beach
June 23, 2020
This beach sits very close to La Restinga, about a 30-minute walk along the condominium road. It’s not a hard walk, but the path fills up with overgrowth quickly; going in jeans, a t-shirt and a cap makes the walk (moderate difficulty) fairly manageable.
It’s a fairly isolated area, so it’s a good idea to let someone know where you’re headed, in case of an emergency — an accident is bad enough without having to carry someone 30 minutes back; that’s why I always recommend staying near the lifeguards.
The beach looks out toward Panama City, and to the west you can see Chame; the sunsets here are beautiful.
The tide comes in, and sometimes there’s no beach left at all (keep an eye on where the sand markers are), so I recommend going at low tide, when a kind of natural pool forms.
Best regards.
