Taboga Panamá

At the Doorstep of High Season

September 19, 2018

Unlike other countries, Panama doesn’t have four seasons (summer, spring, fall, winter); we have the rainy season, from April through December, and the dry season, from December through March. That’s how we define tourism seasons both in Taboga and across Panama.

Starting in November (Panama’s independence holidays), the island sees a surge in activity; weekends fill up with tourists coming to enjoy the waters so close to the city.

My idea with my social media is to do away with this whole high-season/low-season split — to get the island to have activity year-round, instead of waiting a few months to fill the beach with food stalls, so that it’s profitable to open a business all year and keep it running the whole time.

This year, the independence holidays run from Friday, November 2 through Monday, November 5; then comes November 28, a Wednesday; then Mother’s Day on December 8, which falls on a Saturday, followed by Christmas and New Year’s, two great long weekends to enjoy on the island with family. Then comes January, kids’ vacation, and then carnival, which is coming in strong for 2019.

Little by little my social media is generating the visits this project needs; 2019 is coming soon and we hope to pull it off.
